If you could earn college credit for completing high school courses, would you?

Here's how to earn college credit while in high school:

» Course Articulation, the AAA+ Award

» AP (Advanced Placement) Program

» Dual Enrollment / Dual Credit

Dual Enrollment / Dual Credit Programs

Dual Enrollment / Dual Credit progams allow academically talented students to earn college credit while still in high school. The programs can provide enhanced curricular opportunities that help students prepare for college level course work. Course options are determined by the individual high school and the college(s) involved. Course work completed through the Dual Enrollment / Credit programs is posted in the same manner as the colleges report course work by showing credit hours and grade earned.

Dual Enrollment / Credit applications are available from each participating high school. Students must complete separate Dual Enrollment / Credit applications for each class they would like to enroll and earn credit. The applications are submitted by each participating high school department and forwarded to the colleges. Enrollment in the programs usually takes place during regular course registration.

Acceptance of Dual Enrollment credit is completely up to the college(s) the student is considering. When visiting a prospective college, ask how the college handles Dual Enrollment credit.

If you have questions about your school's Dual Enrollment / Credit programs, contact the course instructor, your school's Dual Enrollment Coordinator, or check in your school guidance office.
